Michal Imielski is a director working across film, theatre, and opera.
Born in Poland and now based in Sydney, his work explores themes of mortality, transformation, memory, and human relationships. His projects combine cinematic storytelling with elements of performance and music.
His work includes the feature film Dead Sunrise, the stage and film project Winterreise, and the opera work How to Lose Sight, which received critical attention including coverage in the Sydney Morning Herald.
Alongside directing, Michal founded SHH Theory, a space dedicated to hybrid arts and interdisciplinary collaboration supporting artists working across theatre, film, music, and performance.
He is currently developing a slate of new feature films scheduled for production between 2026 and 2028.
